First year work - Imaging & Styling

For the street styling brief i chose to look into the Americanisation of British culture, and focused my styling around the preppy look which was becoming more popular in streetwear. I used a female to represent how that young women today are becoming highly influenced by American culture and the 'high school' lifestyle that is portrayed to them through TV shows and music. I kept the styling girlie by using a tartan mini skirt, with a printed tee balancing it out up top, but then added a hint of quirky coolness with the waistcoat and converse. I kept the make up and hair natural to give that california feel to it, and also choose a retro ice cream diner as the location to shoot. I wanted the images to be fresh and the colours pastel and bright, so that you get the feel of a sunny American day.
